Please join MIT Press Bookstore, in partnership with the MIT Department of Architecture, for a discussion of Thresholds 47: Repeat.

Thresholds is the annual peer-reviewed journal produced by the MIT Department of Architecture. Each independently themed issue features content from leading scholars and practitioners in the fields of architecture, art, and culture. Thresholds 47: Repeat is edited by Walker Downey and Sarah Rifky.

From Sarah Rifky and Walker Downey’s introduction:

“In Thresholds 47: Repeat, we ask under which circumstances works of art and architecture are reiterated between publics, presentations, and networks of discourse, and what we might learn from their trajectories of repetition. We consider the ‘afterlives’ of sites and structures driven forward through conflicting histories, reuses, and renewals. We are interested in reconceptualizing repetition as an idea that allows us to compose non-linear histories, while reconsidering the ethics of repetition, politically and aesthetically, beyond the value hierarchy of originals and future copies. In sum, we are interested in tracing the life of repetition as method, as an act lived by authors, agents, characters, and artworks.”
